Periodicals Company Calls It Quits
A Long Island, NY-based business magazine called “Edify” announced its closure at the end of June. The print publication, which debuted in 2013, had sales of $5.2 million in 2014, according to one industry report. In an internal company memo that was obtained by Ad Age, the business owners blamed “the volume of online traffic” and the rising cost of printing as the main reasons for the store’s closure.
While the loss of the publication will have an effect on some editorial and advertising staff members, the new owners will look to utilize the print material in other ways. A spokesperson for the company told Ad Age that the publication will likely “end up in the recycling bin.”
